The dictionary states that climate change is “a change in global or regional climate patterns, in particular a change apparent from the mid to late 20th century onwards and attributed largely to the increased levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide produced by the use of fossil fuels.”. Is it valid to say that climate change is a myth? Well the advancement in technology really helps clearly answer that question. Over a timelapse you can witness glaciers melting at an alarming speed. There is a hole in our atmosphere from all the CO2 emissions, and its only growing and it doesn’t even seem to reach the headlines of the news. Are we in denial or just plain stupid. The change in leadership of America certainly isn’t helping, in fact this worldwide problem seems to have been put on hold. Donald Trump is prioritizing military and industrial growth and increasing tensions with North Korea through twitter, “North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un just stated that the “Nuclear Button is on his desk at all times.” Will someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his, and my Button works!”. It’s apparent that Trump has no regard for the environment and is looking for any way to boost his “amazing persona”. He shows this my cutting the EPA or Environmental Protection Agency budget by one third, counteracting Barack Obama’s efforts to act on climate change. The scary thing is I see it everyday. Its January, one of the coldest months of the year in Wisconsin sometimes reaching negative sixty degrees with wind chill and it just rained!
I’m not trying to blame global warming/climate change on Trump it all really started with Ford and the industrialization of the U.S. According to the World's Resources Institute from 1850 to 2011 CO2 emissions have increased by 32,076 metric tons. I don’t know what that means to everyone else, but to me it seems like there should be some serious actions taken to reduce CO2 emissions. That is easier said than done, because of the greedy infostructure of America. You might think, well if carbon emissions are causing the problem why don’t you just make vehicles that don’t require fossil fuels; it has been done, we have the technology to make extremely efficient motorized vehicles, but because the fossil fuels industry is so big, they crush the opposition. Another issue is cost, when you create an advanced piece of technology you can’t just go around the street giving it away because manufacturing such technology is expensive and it may come as a surprise, but as of 2017 the poverty level in America is an estimated 14%, thats 43 of the 323 million Americans living in poverty and the other 85% don’t have offshore bank accounts either. The final obstacle that we run into is infrastructure, America is simply not set up to charge a battery, we have gas stations instead and creating a whole new system of transportation takes time and effort which doesn’t seem like a realistic goal with a talking orange for a president.
